Last night Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was requested by Breeding Fire Department for assistance with a missing person case. The case originated from a vehicle being located off road in a remote field and the operator was not located. The missing subject was from Illinois and ended up in southern Adair County.
CFD was requested for drone operations and swift water rescue assets on standby in our county (scene was next to a flooded creek in rough terrain). Campbellsville’s Unmanned Aerial System Team consist of Campbellsville Fire-Rescue Special Operations, Campbellsville Police and Alpha Team Air Support (advanced thermal equipment). Once crews arrived on the scene they worked underneath an organized incident command system and preformed nonstop drone flights over the search area.
Multiple search efforts was ongoing at the same time. K9 search dogs, ground search operations, ATV search operations, investigations team and drone team. At approximately 2316 our drone team was able to locate the missing person and guided ground search teams to the patients. The patient was located alive and evaluated and transferred over to EMS.
This was an exceptional effort with multiple agencies working together with very little information in rough conditions to provide this positive outcome. UAV footage posted with permission from the victim’s family.
